This was my first test of baking a high to low poly texture for foliage.
Started by sourcing grass blades/seed pods on Google and fixing them up in photoshop so they tile better. From there I modelled a high poly clump of grass in MODO, and baked it down to a single texture + alpha.
From there I generated a low poly mesh that I could use in SpeedTree as a Mesh Frond, and generated a few clumps of grass within SpeedTree (However in hindsight, this could have been done just as easy in MODO).
I took this into UE4 and set up my material to give it random colour variation and SSS.
There's naturally a lot of room for improvement, so hopefully my next lot are better!
